“A Faithful Promise”

How often do promises go unfulfilled?

We have (or hear) excuses. People forget. Sometimes, people make promises they have no intentions of keeping!

But God never fails to fulfill a promise.

Never.

Not even when that promise means that God’s people will be punished for disobedience.

God says, “I will…” And when he says that he will do something, the certainty that it will happen is absolutely 100 percent!

In Leviticus 26, God makes these promises if Israel would obey:

“I will look on you with favor…”

“I will keep my covenant with you..”

“I will walk among you and be your God…”

But if they should disobey:

“I will bring upon you sudden terror…”

“I will punish you for your sins..”

“I will multiply your afflictions…”

God assures us – HE is faithful.

Therefore the Lord Almighty says this: “Because you have not listened to my words, I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
