Summer Series 2018: 1 Timothy 1

The 2nd lesson in the 2018 Summer Series is presented by David Skidmore.

In verse 12, Paul reminds Timothy that he was once a persecutor – and a violent man – and God poured out His grace on Paul. The message? Christ can save anyone!

In this chapter, Paul addresses Timothy as a teacher. He instructs Timothy to stay in Ephesus, where apparently there is a fair amount of conflict. He calls Timothy to address the issues because it is “loving” (verse 5). Is it possible that you’re in a position rife with conflict, and you need to stay?

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
