Summer Series: Hebrews 4

Hebrews 4 – Callahan Maynard

This is the 4th lesson in our 2017 Wednesday Night Summer Series. Callahan is a chiropractic physician in the Tulsa area. He is married to Ashley, and they have three children – Nash, Knox, and Teddy Jane.

This chapter is a reassurance to 1st-century Christians that the promised “rest” of God is still available; it has not somehow passed them by. In fact, that “rest” is not the promised land of Old Testament Israel, but an eternal rest, one accessible through obedience.

In illustrating work and rest, Callahan shares the amazing story of Australian ultra-marathon runner, Cliff Young.

The good news is that Jesus understands our weakness, and tells us that – despite those weaknesses – we can still approach God’s throne boldly!

“For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains then a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; of  alone who enters God’s rest also resets from his own work, just God did from his.”
