Under-Rowers Unite

This lesson continues the weekly study from the book of 1 Corinthians.

“Servants of Christ.”

In 1 Corinthians 4:1, Paul characterizes himself as a servant of Christ – in the Greek language, a hyperetes (hoop-a-rah’-tase). That word, in the Greek, means “under-rower,” a subordinate rower on a boat. Not even the main rower! The assistant rower!

In this lesson, Mike explores the idea of living as a servant of Christ, an “under-rower in the kingdom.”

Charles Spurgeon: “Make up for your lack of ability by abundant continuance in well-doing.”

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
