This is the third of five lessons that focus on the biblical model of a healthy, vibrant church.
“Is it worth it?”
In this lesson, Mike explores the value of worship, and how it marks the healthy church. He examines the idea that each choice we make is valued on a scale of worth. Is it worth it — or not? Those things that we value consume our time and attention.
Do we value worship? More importantly, do we value worshipping God? Worship exists in every person’s life — the question is what do you worship?
The point is that worship is not just that time on Sunday when the church meets together to sing and pray. How do you think about worship? What is your attitude towards worshipping God? Is worshipping God a moment in time on Sunday, or something you do all the time?
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 (New Living Translatin)
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill…
The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.
