In 1 Corinthians 7, the people of the church in Corinth have apparently asked Paul a number of questions regarding relationship, which he undertakes to answer.
Marriage. Divorce. Remaining single. These are all topics of concern, given the persecution of Christians in the first century.
Of greater importance, as Mike explains, is the sanctity of the covenant bond of marriage, and remaining in obedience to God.
