This is the second lesson in Mike’s series, Overcoming Overload, from the book of the same name.
The sabbath is God’s gift to mankind in order to provide REST.
But today’s culture – the culture of “24/7” – leaves no room for rest.
Today’s sabbath rest is the first day of the week, Sunday. Sunday is the “space” in the week that prevents all the days from running together. But are you “enslaved” by your schedule? Does your life need some space?
In this lesson, Mike teaches about “sabbath” and what relevance it has for you. God made the sabbath just for you, and Jesus consistently practiced the principle of “rest.”
Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27-28
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
