The 2nd lesson in the 2018 Summer Series is presented by David Skidmore.
In verse 12, Paul reminds Timothy that he was once a persecutor – and a violent man – and God poured out His grace on Paul. The message? Christ can save anyone!
In this chapter, Paul addresses Timothy as a teacher. He instructs Timothy to stay in Ephesus, where apparently there is a fair amount of conflict. He calls Timothy to address the issues because it is “loving” (verse 5). Is it possible that you’re in a position rife with conflict, and you need to stay?
“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
