Hebrews 1 – Callahan Maynard
Callahan Maynard leads off the summer teaching series on Hebrews. Callahan is a chiropractic physician in the Tulsa area. He is married to Ashley, and has three children – Nash, Knox, and Teddy Jane.
The first chapter of Hebrews is focused on the supremacy of Jesus Christ, a topic of great importance to 1st century Jews who struggled to give up on Moses, the law, and the old covenant.
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”
Hebrews 1:3a (NIV)
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”
Colossians 1:15-18 (NIV)
