The Camouflaged Enemy

Your “enemy,” the Scripture says, is crafty (NIV). Subtle (KJV). Shrewd (NLT). Cunning (NKJV).

He is the father of lies, Jesus said, so his message is, by definition, deceitful. In other words, there is often just enough truth in the lie to make it sound reasonable.

Satan doesn’t “play” fair.

Recognizing your enemy, Satan, and his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11, Ephesians 6:11) are important. Here’s why:  “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 NIV).”

And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15 (NIV)
