The “OpenDoor Saints”

Throughout the next several months, the Wednesday night Adult Bible Class will be studying from the book of 1Corinthians. During this same time, Mike Baskett, the minister at OpenDoor, will also be preaching from 1 Corinthians. In this lesson, Mike preaches from 1 Corinthians 1:1-9.

Christians are sanctified in Christ Jesus (verse 2), and called to be “holy.”

The word “sanctified” (verb) and the word “holy” (noun) are both from the same original Greek word – hagios. It is the word that is interpreted “holy,” and those called to be holy (NIV) are “saints.”

If you are sanctified in Christ Jesus, you are holy – you are a saint.

In this lesson, Mike explores the idea of WHO we are in Christ.

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
